In my last post I discussed the threat that Iran currently poses to the entire world. While governments scramble for options, Iran continues to get closer to having nuclear weapons. They seem to be unanimously the greatest threat to national security we face today.
There is no ignorning this problem; actions have to be taken with haste. There is strong debate as to how to deal with Iran, but the fact is, as long as its current regime is in power, they will stop at nothing to get nuclear weapons. Many world leaders and expert analysts agree that tough sanctions are required. Now they are considering sanctions against Iran's banking system which would cripple their economy and slow their progress. The problem with this approach is that oil prices will climb dramatically and further hurt the world economy. Another problem with this is that it will not stop them from getting nuclear weapons; they will stop at nothing. Another approach is to bomb their nuclear facilities. This will have the same affect on oil prices hurting the world economy, and will also unite the Iranian people behind their corrupt regime, that would be a huge step backwards. What seems to be the best option for the world is to stir the people of Iran against the regime they hate and support them in removing their government. Until they have replaced their current leaders, Iran will remain a dangerous threat to the world. With a new government in place, maybe Iran could be trusted with nuclear weapons? Well, that is not my words...
